the weekends feel so long because we do so much. saturday began on the beach, early. woke up with the sunrise and found myself knee deep in the ocean 45 minutes later, cheering on one skim boarding friend with another and threatening a local audubon society meeting (they were watching pelicans, we wanted to rustle their feathers). stephanie and I were convinced going to the beach, that early, with little sleep, was possibly one of the best decisions we had ever made. three hours later the three of us woke up from our sandy naps, ready to take on the rest of the day that kept going,

and going,
and going.

Yeah, I hear Heima is great. I'm envious you've seen it.
I'm off in an hour's time to see Beirut play. I am not sure how I feel about his French flaneur style, I haven't given it enough of a listen.

Enjoy LA.

What are you listening to at the moment?

As for Beirut, brilliant concert. First off the venue is fantastic. It's a series of massive brick arches which are underneath the train station. It's all very dark, shadowy, slightly musty and intimate. I was surprised at how much energy was in the showmanship considering that they are already quite established and don't need to impress in the same way as emerging bands. All in all, I was very impressed.

I just got back from seeing Glasgow's improvisation orchestra play a soundtrack to Ruttman's 1920's silent film on Berlin. The only word to describe it is 'enlightening'. It reminded me of how few sensations I experience on a daily basis and how many more that I should be actively pursuing. Genius and magic!

and you? music?
Ever listen to Electrelane or Grizzly Bear?
